Sustainability
How to Practice Sustainability - AACPS STEM Community Challenge, Spring 2020
Librarian, Lorelei, mentored a group of students from Glen Burnie High School's BioMedical and Allied Health program as part of their Community Challenge Project. Students are paired with local businesses and tasked with providing solutions to their mentor's proposed challenge. In the case of Glen Burnie Library, the challenge was, "How can we enact and encourage more environmentally sustainable practices in the library? How can we support the green movement in ways that are both cost and time effective?"
Originally the plan was for the students to tour the branch and assess what measures were already being taken (number of recycling bins, proper use of said bins, etc.) and how they could be improved upon and/or added to. However, all of that changed when Covid-19 hit and they were forced to change their approach. This video is the result of their research and collaboration with Lorelei. It is a small, but significant, step in spreading awareness about environmental sustainability in our community.

Students: Allison C., Alexandra H., and Tracey H.
