Celebrate Banned Books Week

September 25 through October 1, 2016 is officially recognized as Banned Books Week, but of course Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) supports your right to choose what to read all year round. Celebrate your freedom to read this week by visiting one of our locations and asking to check out a banned book, whether it's Looking for Alaska by John Green (last year's most challenged title), a classic like Sons and Lovers by D. H. Lawrence, the perpetually controversial Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, or Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan. AACPL believes everyone should have the right to choose to read, or not to read, any title on these lists.

Great idea! In America we can read whatever we want to, and that's something to celebrate.
