Take & Make Kits

Known for their creativity and persistence, our hardworking library professionals have continued to provide exceptional service to their customers during the COVID pandemic. As programs went virtual and browsing the stacks and computer usage moved to appointment only, the entrepreneurial library staff were on the lookout for ways to bring hands-on programming to customers in a pandemic-friendly and safe way. Take & Make kits were created to offer customers of all ages enriching, educational or just-for-fun activities available at curbside pickup.

Examples of these kits, made from supplies funded by the library foundation, include handmade greeting card, butterfly ring and finger-paint crafts; flower seeds and garden tips; science experiments and make-a-catapult or robot for STEM skill development; an origami how-to complete with sheets of Japanese origami paper; beach candle making supplies with a beach read list; recipe ideas including chocolate mug cake in a library foundation logo mug, and more. Offerings change as supplies do and as librarian inspiration transforms. Please call to find out what is being offered at your curbside pickup.

The foundation is pleased to have had the flexibility to grant funds to the library to increase its impact at this challenging time, in such a profound way. Great progress has been made to ensure virtual access, resources and expanding programs to reach those most impacted by COVID’s reach. We are grateful for our donors who continue to support our efforts to make the library better for everyone in our county.
