Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the holiday season is already underway! Anne Arundel County Public Library is here to help you and your family make the most of this special time of year, with various holiday and winter-themed events through the New Year.

Holiday Ornament Workshop
Saturday, December 4, 2021 -- 2 pm -- Eastport-Annapolis Neck Library
Celebrate the holiday season with music, cocoa, and crafts.

 
Nutcracker Storytime and Preview
Sunday, December 5, 2021 -- 3 pm -- Discoveries: The Library at the Mall
Meet Clara from Chesapeake Ballet Company's upcoming Nutcracker performances! After a brief storytime, Clara will perform some of the most well-known dances from the ballet and teach some basic ballet to the audience. Enter to win free tickets to a Nutcracker performance at the program. 

  • This is also happening on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 4pm at Discoveries.

 
Winter Craft Fun!
Monday, December 6, 2021 -- 4 pm -- Brooklyn Park Library
Come enjoy some fun, winter-themed crafts and explore your creativity!

 
Winter Cards and Crafts
Wednesday, December 8, 2021 -- 2:30 pm -- Deale Library
Join us for a casual and creative afternoon of card making and Perler/fuse bead projects. All materials will be provided. Open to all ages! No registration required - feel free to stop in at any time :) 

 
Polar Express
Wednesday, December 8, 2021 -- 6:30 pm -- Mountain Road Library
Come be enchanted by a reading of Van Allsburg’s book, The Polar Express, followed by other holiday surprises. Pajamas welcome! 

 
Winter Wonders: Holiday Stories

Many religions have holidays based around this time of year. Come listen to tales of Hanukkah, Christmas, the Winter Solstice, and more. There will be a few holiday surprises! 

 
Holiday Songs From Around the World with Glen Burnie Library

Spend time with your family this holiday season and enjoy music from around the world, as we discover how other countries celebrate the holidays!

 
Cookie Mix in a Jar Making
Monday, December 13, 2021 -- 6:30 pm -- Deale Library
Join us as we make cookie-mix-in-a-jar gifts. We'll provide all dry ingredients, a recipe card, jars, and items to decorate the jar. Enjoy music and chat with new friends and old as we create the jars.

 
Baby, It's Cold Outside
Thursday, December 16, 2021 -- 2 pm -- Generals Highway Corridor Park
Bundle up your baby this Winter and Discoveries library staff at a different local park each month to stroll, socialize, sing songs and stories together! December's event will be held at Generals Highway Corridor Park 1758 Crownsville Road, Annapolis MD 21401 - we will meet at the playground! Winter Solstice Family Storytime

Celebrate Winter with this Family Special Storytime event with stories, songs, and take and make crafts. 

 
Virtual Winter Scavenger Hunt
Tuesday, December 21, 2021 -- 5:30 pm -- Zoom (hosted by Deale Library)
Do you enjoy figuring out the answers to riddles? Virtual Scavenger Hunt challenges players to find specified items according to the answer to a puzzle or riddle. You have 30 seconds to answer the riddle and retrieve the item before any other team. 

 
Kwanzaa Live with Culture Queen
Monday, December 27, 2021 -- 10:30 am -- Discoveries: The Library at the Mall
Join Kwanzaa expert Culture Queen as she teaches royal children of all ages a fresh approach to observing the seven principles of Kwanzaa, an African American festival that celebrates culture, family, and community from December 26 to January 1. With interactive music, movement, storytelling, and Black History-themed games, participants will feel inspired to incorporate Kwanzaa into their family traditions.

 
Goodbye 2021 and Hello 2022 Family Dance Party

Join us for an end-of-the-year dance party to say goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022! We will make fun crafts and have a dance party.

 
Noon Year's Eve Party

Noon Year's Eve Party for families with young children.  Countdown to 12:00 with us - we will have noisemakers, activities, dancing, and a balloon drop!

Let little ones ring in 2022 a little early at noon on December 30! We will have books, dancing, noisemakers, and a countdown to noon!

 
New Year's Origami

Join us to practice different origami shapes in real time! We will also be talking about how the New Year is celebrated in Japan! Don't forget to stop by the Busch Annapolis Library for a Take-n-Make full of origami paper, instructions, and information about the New Year in Japan.
