AACPL Computer System Update

On Monday, April 8, the library will switch to a new computer system. This is a big change for library staff, but the impact on customers should be minimal.

Here’s what you can expect

  • All library branches will be closed from Friday, April 5 at 5 pm (our regular closing time) until Monday, April 8 at noon as we move all our data from the old computer system to the new one. During this time, you won't be able to access the library’s online catalog, your account information, or place any holds.

  • Certain online resources will also not be accessible during this closure, including LinkedIn Learning, ABCMouse, Creativebug, Kanopy and Overdrive/Libby. Most other library resources should continue to work as usual.

  • If you’re currently reading/listening to a book on Overdrive/Libby, you should be able to continue doing so while library services are offline. However, you will not be able to check out, renew or place holds on new titles.

On the morning of Monday, April 8, online services should be available again, and you’ll be able to access the catalog and your account at https://catalog.aacpl.net. While the catalog will look similar, it will offer some new features, such as the ability to create a username instead of needing to remember your library card number!

As we switch to our new computer system, Marina/Interlibrary Loan borrowing will be temporarily paused from Wednesday, April 3 through Friday, April 12. Please wait until Saturday, April 13 to place requests for materials outside of our collection.

Other updates & changes

  • You will now find links to library card-exclusive resources right in the catalog search.
  • Your booklists and reading history (if enabled) will still be available to you.
  • You may need to recreate any links between your account and those of family members that you accessed from the same login. If you have any questions about the new catalog, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
  • You will also notice some other small changes, such as library text messages coming from a new number (410-921-9964).
  • We will be updating links on the library website as quickly as we can, but it may take us a few days to change them all.

Please have patience with library staff as they get used to our new computer system and a new way of doing things. It may take us a few days to get back up to the speed you’re used to!
