Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) has a vibrant team of 500+ volunteers assisting in our 16 libraries located throughout the County! Volunteering provides a great opportunity for individuals to serve their community; to expand their knowledge about the library; and to learn about career opportunities within the Library system. Library staff are often looking for volunteers to assist staff with a variety of library activities such as unpacking and checking in books, searching the collection for requested items, book repair, filing and computer orientation.
These positions usually require the ability to bend, lift boxes and books, use a hand held scanning device, and to stand for periods of time. Volunteers are recruited, interviewed and trained at the local library level. Every library has one or more Volunteer Supervisors. You must be at least 14 years old to apply. If you can commit to volunteering one day a week, usually a morning, for 2-3 hours per week, please contact the libraries whose openings are posted below. Due to the nature of the jobs and the training involved, libraries prefer a commitment of at least 6 months for most volunteer jobs.
Please contact a library location near you to find out if there are volunteer openings.
