Catwoman Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas

Catwoman: Soulstealer is one of the installments from the hit series DC Icons. Selina Kyle aka Catwoman is a master thief much like her comic counterparts, but something is slightly different within this novel. Instead of the old classic Bruce Wayne as Batman and Catwoman romance, this story has Luke Fox as Batman and the dynamic between the two characters is quite different than what old DC fans are used to.

I was a little skeptical myself because I love Bruce’s Batman and Selina together, but I actually really enjoyed Luke as Batman. Luke is a little less serious and long-suffering so the dialogue between him and sass-master Selina is very lively. Part of Catwoman's appeal is her mystery, but Maas does an excellent job of giving the readers an insight into Selina’s childhood and her view of close relationships without taking away from that mystery.

This book is a little less plot centered and more about the characters, but I feel the dialogue more than makes up for that. I wish we could have seen more of Selina’s prowess in combat in this book but overall I really recommend it to any DC fans or anyone just looking for a fun read.
