The thrilling conclusion to Stephanie Garber’s Caraval trilogy, Finale, takes sisters Donatella and Scarlett Dragna on a quest to find their mother Paloma and to end the control of the Fates over the Elantine Empire. For their entire lives, Tella and Scarlett have wondered why their mother left them. However, when they learn that she was trapped in a cursed Deck of Destiny, a stack of cards containing Fates with magical powers, they free her and anxiously await her awakening.
When Paloma leaves again, the sisters know they must rescue her from any of the other Fates they freed along with her. Fallen Star, a dangerous Fate, threatens to take control of the empire and kidnaps Scarlett to use her to serve him. Tella and Legend, an immortal Caraval master, must save Scarlett, the empire, and Paloma before Fallen Star destroys everything.
I would rate this book 4 stars. I enjoyed this book because of the suspense and plot twists that the author implements into each of her books. I was surprised to learn more of the backstory of Paloma before she left Tella and Scarlett, as well as the history of the Fates. However, I did feel that the storyline could be jumbled and overwhelming at times. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves young adult fiction and is looking for an action-packed book!
