A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson

By Autumn S., Annapolis High School

A Good Girl's Guide To Murder, written by Holly Jackson, is a murder mystery novel with a hint of Nancy Drew. Pippa Fitz Amobi decides to make her school project about Andie Bell, a girl supposedly murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh who committed suicide at the discovery of Andie’s death. Pippa believes that Sal Singh is not the murderer, and she strives to prove his innocence and find the real person behind the murder. Join Pippa’s investigation in this book and discover more details about Andie Bell, who had many secrets herself.

I particularly liked how the events were revealed and the mystery behind the book. I would catch myself predicting the murderer throughout the book until more and more curveballs were thrown and I would question everything. The idea that a murder investigation as a school project that includes personally interviewing witnesses in Andie Bell’s life, I would think would not be allowed. Other than that aspect of realism, I think that the book was very well done and there is nothing I truly disliked. I recommend this book to any young adult who favors mystery books involving teens. This book may also be appreciated by any Nancy Drew lovers.
